This letter refers to the article ‘White elephants’ (April 14, 2024) by Dr Farrukh Saleem. The writer states that the government owns some 200 white elephants and that, over the past five years, these 200 white elephants have accumulated around Rs4 trillion worth of losses.
He further says that if we divide these losses amongst the people of Pakistan, every Pakistani family has ended up losing Rs115000 in the past five years for no fault of their own.
