‘Efforts under way to improve health system’

LAHORE: Provincial Health Ministers Khawaja Salman Rafique and Khawaja Imran Nazir attended the training session of DHOs and DDSRs at a local hotel on Tuesday.

Khawaja Salman while addressing the participants said that corona virus has affected the economy of the whole world very badly. Training of doctors is necessary to save people from such dangerous diseases and our healthcare workers should be educated about every disease and treatment. He said Punjab govt is working to improve the health system. Kh Imran Nazir in his address said that leadership quality is being created in doctors through the training workshops. Both ministers thanked British High Commission, WHO and other partners for providing technical support.

British delegation calls on ministers

Health Ministers Khawaja Salman Rafique and Khawaja Imran Nazir Tuesday met the British High Commission delegation at Punjab Health Initiative Management Company.

On this occasion, CEO Punjab Health Initiative Management Company Dr Ali Razaq and other officers participated. The British High Commission delegation included Cord Stronoj from the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, Dr Sarah Shehzad, Joe Mayer, Maryam and Dr Kakkalziad, Rauf Gandapur, Ain Al Moin, Jibulani Ninewa and Mohammad Waseem. Khawaja Salman Rafique and Khawaja Imran Nazir discussed issues of mutual interest including universal health insurance with the British High Commission delegation. Khawaja Salman Rafique said the British High Commission delegation is welcome.

Mian Nawaz Sharif launched the health insurance programme in 2015. In 2015, Maryam Nawaz also gave guidance on the health insurance programme. Reforms are being introduced to improve the health insurance program. We thank the delegation of the British High Commission for offering support to the Punjab government in the health sector, the minister said. Khawaja Imran Nazir said on this occasion that all BHUs of Punjab are going to be revamped. The delegation of the British High Commission said on the occasion that revamping the BHUs of Punjab is very welcome.
