QUETTA: Zameendar Action Committee’s sit-in outside provincial assembly in Quetta continues even on fifth day against prolong loadshedding which mars the progress of agricultural sector of the province.
The farmers’ committee demanded that the electricity should be provided to rural feeders for eight hours instead of 3 hours and transfer tube-wells on solar system.
Provincial President of National Party and member provincial assembly Rehmat Saleh Baloch said that they would raise voice on every forum against the excesses being committed with Baloch farmers, adding that the agriculture sector is back bone of the country. He said that National Party along with other political parties will raise voice against maltreatment of government and said farmers should not consider themselves alone.
Rehmat Baloch expressed these views while addressing participants of Dharna staged by farmers. He said that the government is making efforts to keep Balochistan backward in every sector of life and it is tantamount to cruelty to provide electricity for three hours across the province. He said that supplying of electricity for three hours out of 24 hours is amount to eliminate agriculture sector in the province. Rehmat Saleh Baloch said that there is more production of electricity than what Balochistan needs and all the remaining power is transferred to the national grid and due to this farmers were deprived of two time meal. He said that his party with other political parties will raise voice against excesses and cruelty perpetrated with farmers not only in Balochistan Assembly but also on every forum.
