PESHAWAR: Commissioner of Peshawar Division Riaz Khan Mahsud has taken additional charge of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Water and Sanitation Services Peshawar (WSSP).

He presided over a meeting, where officials briefed him on the company’s financial, operational, and administrative affairs. The commissioner emphasized the importance of utilizing all the available resources effectively to ensure the timely delivery of quality services to citizens. He directed that immediate action be taken to address ongoing challenges and enhance service standards.

The company has been facing serious challenges for some time, including liabilities and consumers not paying bills, etc.The government has, therefore, given the additional charge to the commissioner to help and resolve issues being faced by the WSSP.

Despite facing resource constraints, WSSP has been working to maintain environmental standards and provide municipal services. The company has implemented self-sustainable systems for operating 134 tube wells and adopted solar energy for selected facilities, resulting in an estimated annual saving of Rs 8 million on electricity bills.
