Punjab fixes Roti price at Rs15
LAHORE:The Punjab government has fixed tandoori roti price at Rs15 after reducing it by Re 1 but tandoor owners are allowed to sell naan at Rs25 following increasing price by Rs5.
Punjab Food Minister, Bilal Yasin did not mention fixation of naan price on Monday. However, he has convinced the Naan Roti Association to sell Naan and Roti as per the government notification across Punjab. According to an official announcement, the landmark was archived after successful negotiations with the association representatives.
Aftab Gul, the President of United Naan Roti Association, along with the delegation, met Food Minister Bilal Yasin. In the presence of Secretary Food Muazzam Iqbal Sipra, Director Food Punjab Shoaib Khan Jadoon and officials of United Naan Roti Association, following successful negotiations with the Food Minister, Naan-Roti Association assured of selling Roti at Rs15 across Punjab.
Food Minister Bilal Yasin said that the mission to facilitate common man through the reduction in flour prices was successful and the flour price was significantly reduced during the last one month. He said that the Naan Roti Association should ensure the sale of Naan and Roti as per the government notification at tandoors across Punjab.
The minister said that the price of flour has never decreased so significantly in the history of the country. In the last one month, the price of a 20kg flour bag has reduced by Rs1,000 to Rs1,200, while the price of a 10kg flour bag reduced by Rs500 to Rs600. Bilal Yasin said that providing cheap and quality food to the people was the top priority of the government and they would ensure it with the help of all stakeholders.
President of the United Naan Roti Association Aftab Gill also recorded a video message in the presence of the minister.
He said that the government has given a lot of relief in the price of flour, which he appreciated and ensured his cooperation. President of Naan Roti Association assured that all tandoors will sell Roti and Naan as per the government notification.
