Five terrorists nabbed in Bahawalpur

BAHAWALPUR: Five terrorists of banned outfits (TTP/Lashkar-e-Jhangvi) allegedly planning to attack the main railway line bridge on River Sutlej were arrested in the limits of Sadar police by the Counter-Terrorism Department on Monday evening.

According to a spokesman for the CTD Punjab, the CTD personnel had recovered five IEDs fixed with detonators weighing 8-10kg, which have been defused by the bomb disposal squad, five pistols along with a laptop and other relevant material from the terrorists.

The arrested terrorists have been identified as Nauman, Usman, Abdul Hameed, Sikandar Ilyas and Mohibullah and they had been shifted to unknown place for interrogation. The IEDs were packed in 10kg cooking oil containers mixed with ball bearings. According to sources, the CTD was pursuing these terrorists for the last many weeks.

However, it was not yet confirmed that either the alleged terrorists had been arrested near the Empress Railway Bridge or they had been arrested from somewhere else while the CTD has shown their arrest at this point.
