A local leader of the Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat (ASWJ) was killed in a gun attack in the Korangi area on Saturday.

The incident occurred in Sector F-6, Mehran Town, Korangi, under the jurisdiction of the Korangi Industrial Area police station.

Unknown assailants shot and killed the ASWJ leader. Police and emergency responders arrived at the scene and transported the victim to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where he was identified as 37-year-old Fayyaz Khan, son of Nobat Khan.

The ASWJ spokesperson confirmed the victim’s affiliation with the party and provided details of the attack. “This afternoon around 1:30pm, while in his estate agency office, Fayyaz Khan was shot by an unidentified motorcyclist who entered the office and opened fire,” stated the ASWJ spokesperson.

Khan held the position of senior vice president within the local constituency, according to the spokesperson.

Allama Aurangzaib Farooqui, a leader of the ASWJ, condemned the heinous act, emphasising that those who perceived their peaceful intentions as weakness should reconsider. “The authorities must take immediate action against the continuous targeting of ASWJ workers,” Farooqui urged. Karachi Additional IG Imran Yaqoob Minhas instructed the DIG East to conduct a thorough investigation, with orders to apprehend the perpetrators.
