Call for increasing efficiency of varsities instead of establishing new ones
LAHORE : Punjab University Academic Staff Association (PU-ASA) president Dr Amjad Abbas Khan Magsi Saturday called for improving the condition of already existing universities instead of establishing new ones at district level.
In a statement, he said the provision of education in backward areas is a basic need and it is an urgent need to increase the efficiency of the universities working at the division level by providing them with required resources.
He said the existing universities were facing administrative and financial problems due to which the research in the varsities was stagnant and their faculty were unable to play their role in the development of society.
The ASA president demanded instead of establishing new varsities, the condition of the already established ones should be improved to make it possible for students and scholars to get quality education in the field of higher education.
