Meeting discusses preparation of new LG Act
LAHORE : The second consultative meeting of the committee formed for the preparation of the new Local Government Act in Punjab was held at the Civil Secretariat on Saturday.
Local Government Minister Zeeshan Rafique presided over the meeting. The minister is also convener of the meeting.
Co-Convener and Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat, Members of Punjab Assembly, Secretary Local Government Shakeel Ahmad Mian, Special Secretary Asia Gul also attended the meeting.
Various proposals for determining the population of the Union Council were discussed during the meeting. The LG minister said every aspect will be considered before the final decision of the new local government system in Punjab. He said before determining the population of the Union Council, the hard areas with low population will be taken into consideration and the MPs concerned will be consulted first in this regard.
