Abdullah wins SGA title at DACGC

KARACHI: Abdullah Nasir claimed the inaugural Lt Col Muhammad Amir Trophy when he reigned supreme in the amateurs event of the Sindh Golf Association (SGA) Tournament here at the Defence Authority Country and Golf Club (DACGC).

Abdullah grossed 78 in the 18-hole contest to beat runner-up Abdul Aziz Toha by one stroke in the tournament that featured a sizeable number of golfers in various categories. The second runner-up in the amateurs (gross) category was Kashif Shabbir (80).

The tournament was hosted by SGA for DACGC members and served as a platform to pay a tribute to late stalwarts of the club.

In the amateurs (net) category, Hyder Ali Jafri carded 64 to annex the Lt Col Muhammad Amir Cup. Azhar Hameed with a score of 69 was the runner-up while Zunair Khan (71) was the second runner-up.

In the seniors (gross) event for the Col Sabir Trophy, Asad I.A khan carded 80 to win top honours. Col Mansoor Akram was the runner-up with a score of 82. The second runner-up was Brig Saleem Abdullah (84).

For the Col Sabir Cup, the winner (net) was Nudrat Kazmi with a score of 71. The runner-up was Col Munawar Ahmed (71) followed by Ismail Ahmed (72).

The veterans’ trophy named after Lt Col Jameel Khan was won by Abdul Naseer (41). The runner-up was Capt Murtaza Askari (42). The net winner was Maj Talat Lodhi (33) and runner-up was Captain Fazle Jaffer (36). The contest was played over nine holes.

Humera Khalid carded 83 to win the ladies (gross) title. Nida Haq, with a score of 76, won the net crown.

In the masters category, Hamza gheewala was winner with a gross score of 44. Omar Intisar was runner-up with a score of 45. The winner net was Ammar Piracha (33) while the runner-up was Ali Mehmood (33).

The two-day event culminated with an impressive prize distribution ceremony.

Asad I A Khan, President SGA, told the audience that the idea behind hosting this tournament was to provide an opportunity to DACGC members to compete on the SGA platform and to acknowledge the services of former club stalwarts who have passed away.
