ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Friday instructed the representatives of the Naanbai Association and the Deputy Commissioner to settle the price of naan and roti in the capital with a consensus after holding a meeting.
The court also instructed the district administration to de-seal shops and release arrested people. Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri heard the petition filed by the Naanbai Association against the new notification of the price of naan and roti.
During the proceeding, the state counsel said that this year there was a good production of wheat in the country and a huge cut had been witnessed in flour prices. He said that the rate of roti should be decreased with the price of flour. The court said that it also had to view the interest of poor people, adding that it was hard for workers to make roti in the extremely hot weather. The petitioner’s lawyer prayed the court to suspend the new notification.
