The Federal Board of Revenue’s much-hyped Tajir Dost Scheme – 2024 has failed very badly. It is being reported that a mere 75 retailers have registered with the scheme as of April 30. Now, even the chief coordinator of the project is reportedly saying that it is not practicable. The programme and the efforts to promote it appear to have been a waste of taxpayers’ money. It is a pity that officials sitting in the FBR office do not know about the fact that it is impossible to register millions of retailers and small traders. If the FBR wants to get more revenue through this scheme they should revise their policy. The scheme should reflect its name and be truly trader-friendly.
