Two suspected robbers gunned down, another wounded

Two suspected robbers were gunned down, while another was wounded in different parts of the city on Monday. A suspected robber who was earlier subjected to violence by a mob also succumbed to his injuries.

A suspected robber was killed and another was wounded in Orangi Town. Police said that when the two men were leaving a furniture shop after committing a robbery there, the people present in the vicinity surrounded them.

Officials said that one of the people shot at the suspects with his weapon, adding that one of the suspects was killed on the spot, while the other suffered severe injuries due to the firing and the mob subjecting him to violence.

The casualties were taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where the deceased was identified as Rehman and the injured as Suleman. Police said that both men were habitual criminals and had been jailed earlier.

Separately, a suspected robber was killed near the Matric Board office in Nazimabad. Police said the incident occurred during an attempt to snatch a pistol from the suspect. Sub-Inspector Bakht Ali said in a video statement: “I witnessed the dacoit robbing people at gunpoint as I left home in the morning. I initiated pursuit of the suspect, and at a distance, the suspect attempted another robbery.”

SI Ali said he immediately stopped his motorbike and tried to catch the suspect. During the attempt to snatch the pistol from the suspect, the weapon went off and injured the suspect, explained the police officer.

“The suspect fell to the ground, wounded. Onlookers gathered and recorded videos,” he said. He added that he is with the investigation department of the Nazimabad police station. The robbery victims also identified the suspect, who suffered severe injuries from the gunshot and succumbed to them on the spot. Police said that a pistol and stolen items were found on the suspect, while the motorbike he was riding was also impounded.

Meanwhile, a suspected robber who was earlier seriously injured by a mob near Old Golimar succumbed to his injuries during treatment at a hospital. The suspect had been caught by people near the Chaman Cinema while he was allegedly committing a robbery. The people had subjected the suspect to violence, resulting in critical injuries to him, following which he had been rushed to a hospital in critical condition.
