Stolen water pumps recovered, 2 held

TIMERGARA: The Talash Lower Dir police on Sunday claimed to have arrested two accused and recovered several stolen water pumps and solar panel batteries from their possession.

Talking to this scribe, Station House Officer (SHO) Muhammad Ayub Khan said that one Gul Amir had lodged a complaint that unidentified persons had stolen his motor pump. The SHO said that local police started investigations and traced the culprits as they were selling the used solar batteries and water pumps in a local market.

He said that seven water pumps and two solar batteries stolen from mosques were recovered from the accused. The vehicle used during the crime was also recovered, he said, adding the accused had confessed to have committed the crimes.

The SHO asked local residents to extend their cooperation to police for curbing street crimes and tracing the culprits. Meanwhile, the residents of Balambat, Kandaro and Khaima have demanded the district police officer, Lower Dir, and SHO Balambat police station to arrest the thieves who were active in the area in similar activities. They said that many water pumps and valuables have been stolen from wells and outside houses.
