Law and order in Karachi to be maintained at any cost, says CM
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has vowed that the government will maintain peace in Karachi at any cost.
“We have paid a heavy price for peace in Karachi by sacrificing citizens, political workers, police, Rangers, and army personnel. Therefore, peace in the city is very important to us,” he said as he spoke on Sunday at a gathering to mark the death anniversary of Akbar Nagori, younger brother of former provincial minister Javed Nagori, held at the Kakri Ground, Lyari.
The meeting was attended by Local Government Minister Saeed Ghani, MNAs Nabil Gabol and Abdul Qadir Patel, Senator Masroor Ahsan, MPA Asif Khan, and a large number of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) workers and residents of Lyari.
Shah stated that the PPP’s government in Sindh had previously restored law and order in the city and it would do the same to resolve the street crime challenge efficiently. In May 2015, a terrorist attack claimed the life of Akbar who was a dedicated PPP worker, Shah recalled. He also highlighted the immense sacrifices rendered by the people of Lyari to restore and strengthen democracy in the country.
The CM remarked that the people of Lyari were truly patriotic and politically aware residents of Karachi. He mentioned that PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had instructed him to provide health, education, water and sanitation facilities to the people of Lyari.
Most of the internal roads in Lyari had been developed, and health and educational facilities improved in the area, Shah said, adding that the historical Kakri Ground had also been converted into a significant sports facility to encourage children and youth to engage in healthy activities.
