PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Saturday directed the law-enforcement agencies, including the police, not to arrest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and directed the incumbent to approach the Lahore High Court to get details of cases registered against him in Punjab.

Issuing its short order on the writ petition of chief minister seeking details of the cases registered against him, the PHC directed the chief minister to file a fresh petition for the purpose within 30 days. A bench comprising Justice SM Attique Shah and Justice Shakeel Ahmad heard the petition.

In the short order written by Justice SM Attique Shah, the court directed the KP advocate general to take up this matter with his counterpart from Punjab.

The petitioner had requested for details of cases registered against him. His lawyer had told the court that despite making several attempts, they could not get the details of cases registered against the KP chief minister in Punjab.

During the proceedings of the case, the court was told that around 17 first information reports had been registered against the petitioner at various police stations in Islamabad. Two inquiries of the Federal Investigation Agency were pending against him in Dera Ismail Khan while the National Accountability Bureau was also conducting an inquiry against him.

According to the short order, officials of NAB and FIA had told the court they had no intention to arrest Ali Amin Gandapur. His lawyer had told the court that his client did not have information about the number of cases registered against him in Punjab despite making several efforts to his effect.

The short order directed the chief minister to approach the Lahore High Court to seek the details of cases in Punjab as it was beyond the jurisdiction of Peshawar High Court.
