Suspect who killed his son-in-law seven years back arrested

LAHORE:Chowki Saggian Police has arrested a suspect who had shot dead a man in Gujranwala seven years back in front of his father for marrying his daughter.

The arrested suspect has been identified as Ilyas. He was frustrated because a man had contracted love marriage with his daughter. He was so annoyed that he went to see the victim at his house in Gujranwala and shot him dead in front of his father.

The suspect afterwards had fled from the scene. He was in hiding for the last seven years until Chowki Saggian Police busted him. Police said that they were investigating the matter and would hand over the suspect to the police concerned after completion of legal formalities.

Woman commits suicide over husband’s first marriage

A newly married woman claimed her life by hanging herself frustrated over her husband for hiding his first marriage in Gujjarpura.

Reportedly, the victim Tayyaba and Suleman worked in insurance section of a private bank. They developed a relationship and contracted love marriage. Suleman was already married and a father of four children. However, he hid this fact from his second wife.

Previous night, he sent a message to wish his first wife happy birthday but Tayyaba read the message. They had an exchange of words which led to scuffle. She was so frustrated that she hanged herself with a ceiling fan to claim her life.

Two suspects arrested for snatching bids

Masti Gate Police has arrested two suspects involved in snatching bids. The arrested suspects have been identified as Shahbaz alias Kalarh, Amir alias Dhol. Police also recovered 135,000 rupees, a dagger and mobile from their custody.

The suspects would conduct robbery bids in streets, mohallas and also harassed public. They would distribute the money among themselves. Many cases have been traced to them. Police said that they were investigating the matter further.

Passerby dies in factory collapse

A passerby died and two workers sustained injuries when a sweet manufacturing factory collapsed on Raiwind Manga Road on Friday. Reportedly, the building collapsed the last night, leaving three people, including a passerby, injured. The injured were shifted to hospital where one injured identified as M Qasim died.

Retired

SP Malik Ikram retired from the police department on completion of professional service. IG Punjab Dr Usman Anwar presented a commemorative shield and bouquet to Malik Ikram on his retirement. IG Punjab expressed good wishes for his future. Spokesperson Punjab Police said that SP Malik Ikram served in the police department for 34 years.

IGP interacts with cops’ families

Inspector General Police (IGP) Punjab Dr Usman Anwar Friday met cops and their families and listened to their issues at the Central Police Office. The IGP directed the Additional IG Welfare to provide relief on the requests submitted by the families of martyred constables Yasir Mehmood and Najeebullah.

He directed the AIG Admin to provide relief on the applications of the sons of late ASI Shahroz Waqar and Naib Qasid Mirza Iftikhar Baig regarding recruitment as junior clerks in the department.
