PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Thursday stopped the Punjab Police and other agencies from arresting KP Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandpur in the cases filed against him.
The court disposed of the petition that the KP chief minister had filed to seek the details of the cases registered against him.
It directed the petitioner to move the Lahore High Court (LHC) to get the details of the cases instituted against him there.
A two members bench consisting of Justice SM Attique Shah and Justice Wiqar Ahmad heard the petition.
Ali Azeem Advocate, KP Advocate General Shah Faisal Uthamnkhel and National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Prosecutor General Muhammad Ali appeared before the bench.
The petitioner counsel informed the court that the Anti-Corruption Department had not submitted the report on the cases filed against Gandapur.
The NAB counsel said there was an inquiry in the NAB against the chief minister but the anti-graft body had no intention to arrest him.
The Federal Investigation Agency counsel said there were two cases in the Cybercrime Wing of the agency against the chief minister and that these were in the inquiry stage. The counsel for the chief minister said that there were cases against his client whose details were not being provided and hence his arrest was feared.
Justice SM Attique Shah asked the AG if the KP government had taken up the issue with its Punjab counterpart. He said Ali Amin Gandpur was the chief minister of the province and asked the AG to move the LHC to seek the details of the cases.
The court said the KP chief minister should not be arrested in any case for 30 days and declared the case disposed.
