AJK assembly okays over Rs9bn supplementary grant for SPEF

MUZAFFARABAD: The Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Legislative Assembly has approved the supplementary grant of Rs9.12 billion for the Azad Kashmir Social Protection Endowment Fund (SPEF).
The grant was unanimously approved after the SPEF Ordinance was presented in the House on Thursday. The SPEF will emerge as another flagship programme, under which financial assistance would be provided to widows, destitute, divorcees and disabled persons at their doorstep. The development is seen as an important step towards making Azad Kashmir a welfare state.
