LAHORE:TDCP and RUDA are joining hands to organise the first-ever Jeep Rally in Lahore on May 4th and 5th.

A special press briefing was held by the Secretary Tourism, Archaeology and Museums Department, Managing Director TDCP, and the CEO of Ravi Urban Development Authority at the auditorium of Lahore Museum on Monday.

The exciting promotion of the rally was also launched there. The rally track will be approximately thirty-five kilometers long. Approximately sixty drivers are participating in the rally, including female drivers. For the first time in Lahore, there will be races in the categories of Dirt Bike, Street Bike, and Truck race. The opening ceremony on May 4 will be held at CBD Main Boulevard Gulberg, while the closing ceremony will take place at Lahore Fort. The Lahore Ravi Rally is being organized with the assistance of the Tourism Department, TDCP, RUDA, Commissioner Lahore, National Highway, and the DPO Sheikhupura.

Addressing the press briefing, MD TDCP Ms Humera Ikram said they are bringing a thrilling event for the lively Lahore, aiming to provide opportunities for youth and racing enthusiasts to showcase their talents.

CEO RUDA Imran Amin informed the media that this is a sport that is highly popular in Pakistan, and starting it from Lahore will create a permanent feature. He welcomed the drivers on CBD and assured them of a warm welcome.

Secretary Tourism Punjab Raja Jehangir Anwar thanked all stakeholders on this occasion and said that TDCP holds the pioneer status in motor sports, having covered tracks of up to five hundred kilometers in various rallies. He noted that for the first time at Urban Centre, a rally is being organized at this level, which is a promising development. He mentioned that there are plans to host the Formula One races as well, which will be officially announced. After Ravi, similar rallies will be organised in the remaining rivers of Punjab. Raja Jahangir stated that it is the department's intention to organise it every year. This track on Ravi will be a permanent feature. People from all over Pakistan are coming to attend the rally on May 5th, and international drivers are expected to participate next time also. He said shuttle bus service will be available for the convenience of the enthusiasts coming to see the rally.
