Street crime has decreased over the past week, claims Lanjar
The Sindh minister for home, law and parliamentary affairs has said that serious efforts are being made to improve the law and order situation in the province.
Talking to the media after a meeting of the Sindh Bar Council (SBC) in Karachi, Ziaul Hassan Lanjar said that the top leadership of the Pakistan Peoples Party has directed the provincial authorities to further improve the law and order situation in Karachi and other cities of the province.
“As the home minister I have been working for almost a month and a half, and there has been a decrease in street crime over the past week. Action is also being taken against negligent police officers.”
Lanjar said that the chief justice of Pakistan had also discussed the law and order situation. “We all want the law and order situation in Sindh to improve.”
He said Karachi is the heart and capital of Sindh, and “peace and security from Kashmore to Karachi are our top priority. Efforts are being made for this”. He pointed out that unpleasant incidents also used to take place on the highways and motorways of the province before he had become the home minister.
“I recently travelled on the motorway at 2am, and told the motorway authorities in a meeting that the journey on the motorway should be made peaceful, and no incident should happen. There are no incidents on the motorway now. Positive news should be spread in this regard.”
In response to a question, the home minister said that they would establish peace in the province at any cost, and “we will crush the dens of dacoits and kidnappers”.
Earlier, in the SBC meeting, Yasir Arafat was elected chairman of the SBC Executive Committee and Kashif Hanif vice chairman. Abdul Sattar Loharani was elected chairman of the BF Committee, Sher Muhammad Wassan as chairman of the Legal Education Committee, and Ehsan Sial as chairman of the Disciplinary Committee.
