LAHORE: Senator Hamid Khan Saturday praised the judges of Islamabad High Court for writing the letter, saying these judges had raised the prestige of the judiciary.
PTI leader Hamid Khan was addressing “All Pakistan Lawyers Convention” organised here by Lahore High Court Bar Association. “The lawyers are with the brave judges”, he said.
The Senator said Chief Justice’s statement that he had received no complaint disappointed him.
The independence of the judiciary is being taken away, he observed, demanding the CJP take action on this. The full court should hear the case, he added.
Kamran Bashir Mughal, Vice Chairman Punjab Bar Council, said lawyers were being pushed against the wall, and efforts were being made to divide the lawyers, not the courts, he told the gathering.
Bar Council leader said they all stood with those judges who were with the Constitution and law. Lawyers would launch a nationwide movement as they always struggled for their rights, he said.
Rabbiya Bajwa, former Vice President Lahore High Court Bar, said lawyers had never surrendered to the generals, she said. Abid Zubairi, former President Supreme Court Bar, said those who interfere must be held accountable, he said.
