LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has ordered precautionary and administrative measures on the likelihood of a rainfall across the province including Lahore.
The CM ordered the commissioners, deputy commissioners and MD WASA to remain vigilant and directed the relevant officers of all the shifts to remain in the field. She directed the administration and the Wasa to remain vigilant and proactive and utilise all available resources for water drainage. She also directed undertaking all essential measures to maintain the traffic flow in Lahore and other cities. She directed the traffic wardens to perform their duties vigilantly to facilitate the citizens. She directed the Rescue 1122 to undertake prompt safety measures for the protection of livestock in rural areas and undertake swift measures for timely shifting of people to safer places from the catchment areas. She said the people of catchment areas should be forewarned about the emergency situation. She directed seeking assistance from media and mobile alert services in this regard.
Maryam Nawaz on Saturday paid a visit to the Samli Syed Muhammad Hussain Government TB Sanatorium Hospital during a torrential rain. She ordered establishing an integrated health system in the whole area including Murree and Galiyat. She directed setting up a helipad and an airstrip to shift patients from the hilly areas in case of an emergency. Directing the authorities to fully functionalize the mother and child block immediately, she underlined the need to undertake prompt measures for the appointment of doctors, staff along with establishing their residences.
She ordered establishing the general wards in the Samli hospital and directed setting up the latest cardiac block. She said an Oncology Unit would be established for the cancer treatment in the hospital. Medicine, Surgery, Urology, Ortho, Eye and ENT Wards would also be established. The chief minister directed running transport immediately to shift patients to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital and the Samli Hospital. She inspected OPD, wards, other sections and inquired from lady doctors about the hospital and the treatment of patients. She directed prompt measures for the treatment of the brother of a woman in the OPD and said that even if a helicopter was required to shift the patient, it would be provided. She also visited the TB Ward and inquired after each and every patient. She inquired from the patients about their treatment and prayed for their early recovery.
A TB patient, Raja Israr, talking to the CM, said: “Our daughter has come to inquire after us and he is very happy.” Maryam advised the son of Raja Israr that parents were a great source of support, blessing and he should make all efforts to serve them. She inquired from the patients about the provision of medicines and treatment facilities in the hospital. She expressed satisfaction over arrangements and treatment facilities in the Samli Hospital.
