KARACHI: West Indies Women outclassed Pakistan by 88 runs in the third and last ODI, with skipper Hayley Matthews scoring her second century of the series at the National Bank Stadium here on Tuesday night.
While chasing 279, the Pakistani batters struggled like they did in the previous two ODIs, getting all out for just 190, with Muneeba Ali (38) and Aliya Riaz (36) being the notable scorers as all the Windies bowlers contributed after Matthews struck a sensational 141.
The home team batters did get proper starts but failed to take their innings deep and forge partnerships, as done by the West Indies. The openers, Sadaf Shams and Sidra Ameen, got out with just 22 runs on the board.
Muneeba and the experienced campaigner Bismah Maroof (19) forged a 45-run third wicket stand that got stemmed by Ramharack, who removed Bismah. With score at 84, skipper Nida Dar (9) got out to Matthews, while 11 runs later Muneeba also got out.
Fatima Sana (23) got out with score at 136. Aliya scored almost run-a-ball 36, while the tail-ender Tuba Hassan scored 19. All the bowlers contributed for West Indies as they exploited the slow conditions far better than the hosts, with Shamilia Connell, Henry, K. Ramharack and Zaida James all picking one apiece. Matthews, Stafanie Taylor and Alleyne took two scalps each.
Earlier, West Indies, batting first after winning the toss, posted 278-6, with Matthews scoring a brilliant 141 off 149 balls with 19 fours, while spinner Nashra Sandhu was the pick of the bowlers for Pakistan with figures of 3 for 54 in 10 overs.
Stafanie Taylor contributed 47, and Aaliyah Alleyne scored a quick-fire 20 to take the visitors to a competitive score on a slow surface. The hosts drew first blood at 37 when Nashra removed Rashada Williams, but Matthews and Shemaine Campbelle (38) tailored a 93-run partnership for the second wicket.
Fatima Sana removed Cambelle, but Taylor and Matthews notched a remarkable third wicket stand of 111 runs. Nashra took back-to-back scalps of Taylor and Henry in the 46th over. Matthews’ sensational ton was stopped by Fatima with the visitors’ score at 250.
However, three fours at the back end from Alleyne took West Indies to a healthy total. Apart from Nashra, Fatima took two wickets but went quite expensive, conceding 67 runs in 10 overs, while Nida Dar picked one for 58. Tuba Hasan went wicket less but conceded just 38 runs in the 10-over spell.
