Water works
Karachi’s water woes have reached alarming proportions even though we are still a month away from the peak summer season. This is a very serious issue. The ignorance of our rulers is not helping the cause either. People are unable to get even proper water for drinking, let alone other purposes.
The irony is that not a single desalination plant has been installed despite the close proximity of Karachi with the Arabian Sea. The problem is that the authorities concerned make plans, devise projects and our rulers talk big, but no one is interested in executing them. The budget for FY2014-15 has earmarked a special amount to solve the water problem of Karachi, yet we have not seen much progress towards executing the projects for which the funds were allotted. The government needs to wake up.
