Man held for raping daughter-in-law

Badami Bagh police arrested a man for raping his daughter-in-law here on Friday.

The arrested man Abid Hussain of Data Nagar Colony had raped his daughter-in-law when she was alone at home. Police registered a case against the arrested man.

found dead: A 50-year-old man was recovered dead from the limits of Qila Gujar Singh police station on Friday.

Police claimed that the man, yet to be identified, was an addict who might have died of some medical complications. Police shifted the body to morgue. 

burnt: Various goods worth lakhs of rupees were reduced to ashes when fire broke out in a hardware store in Swami Nagar, Badami Bagh on Friday.

Cause of fire was said to be short circuit. On being informed, the firefighters rushed to the scene and extinguished fire after hectic efforts. No casualty was reported in the said incident.

suspended: CTO Lahore Friday visited various parts of city to check the flow of traffic on city roads.

He visited Mall Road, Shahdara, Ravi Road and Gulberg areas and suspended four wardens besides issuing show cause notices to other two wardens for not taking action against encroachments and wrong parking.

CTO also announced cash prizes for five wardens who facilitated the citizens and performed their duty well.

roof collapses: Five persons sustained injuries when roof of a cardboard godown collapsed in the Mohlanwal area on Friday.

On being informed, the rescuers rushed to the scene, pulled the injured persons out of the debris. They were taken to hospital where doctors started their medical treatment.

accidents: A total 654 road traffic accidents were reported in Provincial Monitoring Cell of Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) in all districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours; in which seven lives were lost and 513 serious injured were shifted to different hospitals of relevant districts. However, some 232 victims, who sustained minor injuries, were discharged on the spot after provision of first aid by Emergency Medical Teams.

Action: City traffic police took action against 2,116 vehicles using non-prescribed number plates or plying without number plates during the first six days of May 2016.

Traffic police also got registered nine cases against wheelie doers during the last six days.

Traffic police had taken action against 165,902 vehicles on the said charges and got registered 1,612 cases against them since the launching of special crackdown to date.
