Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has expanded his cabinet by inducting eight more ministers, increasing the strength of the provincial cabinet to 18.
The eight new provincial are ministers Jam Ikramullah Dharejo, Mohammad Ali Malkani, Makhdoom Mahboob-uz-Zaman, Dost Mohammad Rahimoon, Shahid Abdus Salam Taheem, Riaz Hussain Shah Sheerazi, Shaheena Sher Ali and Mir Tariq Talpur.
Sindh Governor Mohammad Kamran Tessori on Wednesday administered the oath to the new ministers at a ceremony held at the Governor House. The ceremony was attended by Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, provincial ministers, advisors, Karachi mayor, provincial secretaries, and family members of the ministers. Later, the chief secretary issued a notification for the allocation of the portfolios to the provincial ministers.
Jam Ikramullah Dharejo has got the portfolio of industries and commerce department, Muhammad Ali Malkani has been given the portfolio of universities and boards, Makhdoom Mehboob-uz-Zaman has got rehabilitation, Dost Muhammad Rahimoon’s portfolio is environment, climate change & coastal development, Shahid Abdus Salam Taheem has got the portfolio of labour and human resources, Riaz Hussain Shah Sheerazi has been given Auqaf, religious affairs, Zakat, and Ushr, Shaheena Sher Ali has been assigned the women development department, and Tariq Ali Talpur Social has been given the portfolio of the welfare department.
Later, the CM accompanied by the newly appointed provincial ministers met the governor and discussed issues related to law and order and development in the province. The governor hoped that the new ministers would work for the welfare and progress of the people of Sindh.
Meanwhile, the portfolio of Minister Ali Hassan Zardari, who took the oath as part of the first batch of provincial ministers last month, was changed. Zardari’s portfolio has been changed from prisons to works and services.
Meanwhile, the governor met Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab and discussed sanitation, waste disposal, and civic and municipal affairs of the city. The governor said the de-silting of the storm water drains should be carried out in the city in view of forecast of heavy rains.
The mayor appreciated the steps taken under the governor’s special initiatives for welfare and uplift of deprived communities, especially the launching of a free IT education programme at the Governor House, for students belonging to underprivileged families.
