AKP puts disaster management teams on high alert in calamity hit areas
ISLAMABAD: The Al-khidmat Foundation Pakistan (AKP) has put disaster management teams on high alert in parts of country which have been badly hit by flood caused by torrential rains elsewhere and land-sliding in northern areas.
The spokesman of AKP on Tuesday said that teams of AKP have been busy in rescuing people stranded in flood areas particularly in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and providing them tents, blankets, bed sheets, ready food and medicines.
He said that chairman of Disaster Management and Central Vice President of AKP Ejazullah Khan also chaired a meeting which decided to establish rescue and relief cells at all regional offices. “We have received reports that number of affected people are increasing due to land-sliding, snowfall and rains particularly in hilly areas,” he said.
He said that workers of disaster management teams were also utilizing all possible resources to pump flood water from houses, Masjids, schools and other buildings. “Many villages and towns have been inundated by flood water and population there is facing disaster like situation,” he said.
