4,419 vehicles challanned on The Mall

LAHORE: A crackdown was launched against the violation of lane/line discipline on The Mall. Challan tickets were issued to 4,419 vehicles on the first day of the crackdown. Traffic police took action against 415,000 vehicles for violating lane, line and stop line. 40 wardens, 10 senior wardens and education team have been appointed for crackdown and awareness.

Killer of father dies in jail

A convict serving a life sentence in Kot Lakhpat Jail died of cardiac arrest. According to the police, the prisoner had killed his father in 2013 over a domestic dispute in Tehsil Kamalia and was sentenced to life in prison. The body was shifted to the morgue.

125 drug dealers arrested

Continuing the crackdown on drug dealers across the province, the Punjab Police arrested 125 accused in 324 raids on the hideouts of drug dealers across the province besides registering 120 FIRs against the accused in the last one day.

IG Punjab Dr Usman Anwar is supervising the operation to eradicate the scourge of drugs in connection with the drug-free Punjab campaign and to keep the young generation safe from drugs. Punjab Police spokesman said that 74 kgs of charas, 02 kilos of heroin, 05 kilos of opium and 1,452 liters of liquor were recovered.

Rs39 lakh released for cops’ treatment

IG Punjab has released another Rs39 lakh for the treatment of five personnel who were injured in the line of duty.
