ISLAMABAD: Bushra Bibi, the spouse of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder, has approached the Islamabad High Court (IHC) for check-up and medicaltests from Shaukat Khanum Hospital or any other private hospital of her choice to examine if she was poisoned through contaminated food.
The petitioner alleged that the government was trying to eliminate her to put pressure on PTI founder Imran Khan. She also alleged that the jail authorities had installed closed-circuit cameras in her bathroom, which was a violation of her privacy.
Bushra submitted the petition to the IHC through Advocate Shoaib Shaheen, which stated that she was poisoned through food in prison and had serious concerns and reservations about the food being provided to her in jail.
The counsel submitted that Bushra experienced severe gut pain and a burning sensation in her throat and mouth, and she suspected that she had been given some sort of acid in her meal.Advocate Shaheen submitted that the life of Bushra was in danger as she feared that she was being poisoned.
He submitted that Bushra may be shifted to the Adiala prison as the bathroom provided in the sub-jail was compromised and several hidden cameras were installed there.
The high court was requested to ensure that the life of the petitioner and other fundamental rights guaranteed under the Constitution were protected in letter and spirit and official respondents were restrained from acting in any manner not warranted by the law and adhere to the mandate of the articles 4, 9 and 14 of the Constitution.
The counsel also requested the IHC to allow the petitioner her complete medical check-up and tests from Shaukat Khanum Hospital or any other private hospital, lab or physician of her choice.
