PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has taken exception to the pictures shared on the social media showing deserving families being given Eid packages.
A handout said the chief minister sought explanation from the officials who had shared the pictures on the social media. He explained that this act on part of the government officials and elected public representatives was against the policy of the government as well as the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf to photograph the deserving people getting the relief or compensation. He believed that this hurt the self-respect of the deserving people. Gandapur said the provincial government distributed the Ramazan packages among 0.85 deserving families across the province through a transparent mechanism. He said the money was sent to the bank accounts of the destitute families. The chief minister said that over 1,17000 families, including the families of the police martyrs, were given the relief package. He said it was the policy of the government and the PTI that the pictures and videos of the Ramazan and Eid package would not be shared on the social media to maintain the self-respect of the families. He said that being the chief minister, he neither attended any such event nor distributed the packages among the people.
