ISLAMABAD: Former federal minister and PMLN stalwart Senator Anusha Rehman Ahmad Khan has said that she declined to contest for the office of the deputy chairman Senate since she couldn’t accept an office, which lacks political dimensions.
“I am keen to serve the party and PMLN Quaid Nawaz Sharif for his future plans.” In a brief chat with The News here after assuming as member of the Senate in Parliament House, she said that the government that was brought in power in wake of 2018 polls, had ruined the image of prestigious institutions. They are needed to be given due attention and care. The well-read and politically sensible people should be brought in such institutions.
She was of the view that the PMLN has to play even a greater role to rid the country of various complexities. She reminded that newly elected deputy chairman Senate of the PMLN Syedaal Nasir belongs to Balochistan and dedicated worker of the party. His nomination was choice of the workers that was endorsed by party Quaid Nawaz Sharif.
Anusha Rehman said that she was thankful of the party for its consensus to designate her deputy chairperson of the Senate but ultimately she convinced the leadership to allow her to continue work for the party. Ms. Rehman who had served as IT minister in Nawaz government of 2013, assured that she would try her level best to contribute for the national service in the upper house of Parliament.
