The Clifton division police on Saturday announced the busting of a group involved in thefts across District South.
Addressing a press conference, Clifton division SP Uzair Ahmed stated that three members of the group responsible for thefts from the house of a retired army major had been apprehended.
The police managed to recover gold worth Rs2 million from the possession of those arrested. Additionally, a car and other stolen items worth 6.5 million rupees, taken from a showroom in the Defence area, were seized.
During the operation, a friend of one of the complainants was also arrested.
Furthermore, a car stolen from the Gizri area was recovered, despite the culprits attempting to render its tracker ineffective. Remarkably, the car was retrieved within three hours of its theft.
The group implicated in the theft at the army major’s residence comprises three members, identified as Jalil, Waseem, and Habib, according to the officer. The modus operandi of the culprits involved stealing gold and selling it to jewelers. They primarily target closed houses, conducting thorough reconnaissance before committing the thefts. In total, recoveries exceeding Rs30 million have been made in the operations conducted bythe police.
