PSP for giving powers to LG representatives

GUJRANWALA: We should give powers to Local Government representatives for resolving the problems faced by the people of our country.
It was said by Pak Sarzameen Party leader Raza Haroon while addressing a public meeting here on Wednesday. Iftikhar Randhawa, Tayyab Murtaza, Usman Rathor, Abdul Kareem, Tokay Khan and others were also present. Raza Haroon said that democracy in Pakistan had no solid roots as we had witnessed that democracy faced serious dangers over little issues many times in past. He said that progress could not be made till LG representatives were not empowered in the country. Raza Haroon said that the people of Pakistan should be given the powers to make their choices. Referring towards the strengthening of union councils, he said that the UC members were demanding strengthening of the LG system. He said that the offices of the Pak Sarzameen Party would be opened across the Punjab, adding that organising committee for Gujranwala had been set up while these would also be set up in other cities of the Punjab province. Later, Raza Haroon and Iftikhar Randhawa inaugurated the party office and announced the names of organising committee members. They included Tayyab Murtaza Mir, Usman Rathor, Abdul Kareem, Tokey Khan, Dr Azeem and Faizan Chattha.
Lightning kills youth

GUJRANWALA: A youth died while his younger brother sustained burns when they were truck by lightning at Bhatti Bhango village on Wednesday.
Hamza (14) and his brother Ali (22) were busy working in their field when suddenly they were struck by lightning. As a result, Ali died on the spot while Hamza sustained burns and rushed to a hospital in critical condition.
2 DEAD IN ACCIDENT: Two people died while as many sustained injuries in an accident at Mandiala Tega on Wednesday.
Ali Hassan, Shahzeb, Fozia and Attiqa were on their way by a motorcycle when a speeding vehicle hit them. As a result, Attiqa and Ali Hassan died on the spot while Fozia and Shahzeb received injuries and were rushed to the DHQ Hospital.
