ISLAMABAD: The Commission of Enquiry on Enforced Disappearances has informed the Supreme Court that 27 missing persons had been traced.
The commission said it closed cases of six persons as they did not relate to enforced disappearance.
The commission, while submitting its monthly progress report to the apex court, stated that it dealt with 33 cases in March 2024.
The report further stated that 18 of the missing persons who were traced have returned to their homes while eight people are imprisoned in different jails and one in the detention centre.
According to the report, 18 new cases of enforced disappearance were received by the Missing Persons Commission in March 2024. According to the report, a total of 2,302 cases are pending in the Missing Persons Commission. The commission received a total of 10,185 cases and till April 1, 2024, it has disposed of 7,868 cases.
