ISLAMABAD: Providing constructive guidance to the opposition, Chairman Pakistan People’s Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has underscored the paramount significance of embracing a responsible parliamentary role and the need for united efforts in tackling the challenges faced by the populace, thereby nurturing the development and stability of the nation.

“Additionally, the electorates did not vote for the opposition merely for shouting and making noise,” he noted while addressing an Iftar dinner organized in honour of the workers, citizens, and dignitaries of his constituency NA-194 and the provincial constituency PS-11 at Bhutto House, Naudero on Friday.

Chairman PPP said that most of the problems faced by the people can be solved if the opposition cooperates with the government. He expressed the hope that the elected representatives in the National Assembly would fulfil their roles and cooperate with the government. This, he emphasised, is crucial for delivering justice to the common man through the National Charter of Reconciliation, the National Charter of Economy, and judicial reforms. He stressed that politicians should reconcile or, at the very least, adhere to a code of conduct. “If politicians and institutions work within their respective spheres, Pakistan can progress, and “the PPP will continue to play its fullest role in this regard,” he said.

Bilawal said that Pakistan faces challenges in both economic and security spheres. He highlighted that in the recent general elections, the electorates sent a clear message for collaborative problem-solving and the aspiration to modernise Pakistan collectively. He emphasized that resolving the problems of the people is our priority, and elected representatives have a crucial role to play in this regard. He stressed that these representatives should formulate plans in consultation with the needs of the people.

Bilawal expressed gratitude to the participants for their support in the recent general elections and highlighted that due to their hard work, President Asif Ali Zardari has been re-elected. “History has been made once again as President Asif Ali Zardari becomes the first civilian of the country to be elected president for the second time. We will demonstrate once again that the PPP is the unifying force of the federation and the four provinces,” he said. Bilawal announced that a public gathering will be held at Garhi Khuda Bakhsh on April 14, in connection with the death anniversary of Quaid-e-Awam Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. He termed the Supreme Court’s decision on the presidential reference in the Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto case as a historic achievement for the party and its Jiyalas.

“The court has acknowledged that Quaid-e-Awam did not receive a fair trial. We are thankful to President Asif Ali Zardari for this success. It is the dream of every Jiyala to see justice for Quaid-e-Awam in his lifetime.” PPP Women Wing President and MPA Faryal Talpur, PPP Sindh President Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, MPA Jameel Ahmed Soomro, MNA Aijaz Jakhrani, and other leaders also attended the event.
