Minister for new mechanism to immunise slums children

LAHORE: A review meeting of Punjab Health Roadmap Programme was held under the chair of Provincial Minister for Primary and Secondary Healthcare Kh Imran Nazir. The minister was given a briefing on the roadmap leading to strengthening of the health system, including posting of doctors in BHUs and RHCs, EPI and other vertical programmes.

The minister said that after Eid, he would get a detailed briefing on the performance of each vertical programme and its roadmap. He said that a new mechanism would be devised for the children living in the urban slums of Lahore and Rawalpindi who remained missed in EPI campaign. The minister said that effective and innovative messages would be made part of awareness campaigns for sensitising the general public. .

Minister inaugurates Provincial Stroke Management Centre

Provincial Minister of Health and Emergency Services Punjab Khawaja Salman Rafique inaugurated the Provincial Stroke Management Centre at Services Institute of Medical Sciences Auditorium here on Thursday.

Secretary Emergency Services Punjab Dr Rizwan Naseer, Principal SIMS Prof Dr Zohra Khanum, Executive Director Punjab Institute of Neurosciences (PINS) Prof Dr Asif Bashir, Prof Dr Qasim Bashir, CEO PHIMC Dr Ali Razzaq, Prof Dr Shahzad Anwar, MS PINS Prof Dr Jodat Saleem along with faculty members, a large number of students and rescuers participated in the opening ceremony. Prof Dr. Qasim Bashir highlighted the importance of the Provincial Stroke Management Center.

Addressing the ceremony, Khawaja Salman Rafique said that the treatment of stroke is quite expensive and the launch of the Provincial Stroke Management Centre project is very welcome. He said that we are trying to complete the ongoing revamping project in government hospitals on a fast track. Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz approved an amount of Rs16 billion for the revamping project last week. He further said that currently, Pakistan is going through a challenging situation and we all need to do something better for the sake of the country at this critical stage.
