Cricket criteria

This refers to the news report, ‘Afridi dropped from Pakistan probables for England tour’ (May 2). So, Shahid Afridi, Ahmad Shahzad and Umar Akmal cannot find a place even among 35 probable players. Only months ago these players were deemed capable enough of representing the nation at the highest competitive level of the game.

In English conditions, experience is a must. Inzamam is talking about discipline. It seems the great batsman is thinking like a coach – and not as a chief selector. However, as far as selection is concerned, it all boils down to one single question: what is the criterion?
