CHAKDARRA: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Sirajul Haq has demanded government and law-enforcement agencies to recover a resident of Lower Dir from the captivity of kidnappers in Kashmore area in Sindh.

Speaking at a gathering, he said that in a disturbing development, a video circulating on social media had brought to light the brutal torture of Haji Abdul Hameed, a resident of Balamabat tehsil in Lower Dir, allegedly at the hands of notorious gangsters from the Kacha area in Kishmore area of the Sindh province.

He said the footage had invited widespread condemnation and outrage from various walks of life. The JI chief condemned the heinous crime, attributing the current state of lawlessness and violence in Kacha to the negligence and alleged complicity of government at both federal and provincial levels.

Highlighting the urgency of the situation, the JI chief emphasised that if state institutions and law-enforcement agencies continued to falter in their duties, the public may feel compelled to take matters into their own hands to defend themselves against the rampant criminal activities of gangs operating in Kacha.

“In Sindh, the situation remains serious, with frequent reports of abduction and abuse of labourers and impoverished individuals, particularly those from Pakhtun and other communities. Despite repeated incidents, the Sindh government has yet to take a decisive action against these atrocities,” he pointed out.

He demanded recovery of Haji Hameed and all other kidnapped individuals in Kacha, as well as exemplary punishment of those responsible for their torment. The JI chief warned that failure on the part of authorities to address this ongoing crisis may result in the initiation of a movement against both the perpetrators and their facilitators.
