Patients to get free medicines at doorsteps soon: Maryam
LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz met MPAs from different districts of Punjab here on Tuesday and said she was the chief minister of all.
The MPAs apprised Maryam about public problems and development needs of their constituencies. They presented their suggestions in this regard. The chief minister noted their recommendations and directed the authorities concerned to implement workable suggestions at the earliest.
She said: “100% free medicines and their delivery at patients’ doorsteps will be started soon across Punjab. A mobile hospital and clinic-on-wheels project for the treatment of patients in villages and remote areas will start soon. Rural and primary health centres across Punjab will be revamped within 6 months. We are also trying to improve water supply and drainage system in the province.”
She highlighted: “Safe city projects will be started in 18 more cities of Punjab in the next 3 months. A comprehensive system of solid waste collection is being implemented in 36 districts across the province.” She said 20,000 motorbikes were being given to students, 3,000 bikes in each district and added that to meet people’s need of their own house, one lakh housing units would be constructed for low-income people across Punjab.
“Set up a taskforce to tackle electricity theft at the district level,” ordered Maryam while chairing a meeting on electricity theft. She added: “This taskforce will include representatives of police, magistracy, intelligence, recovery, DC Office, Prosecution and Law Departments. More than 600 special police teams will participate in the anti-power theft campaign.”
She directed the authorities concerned to amend laws for the prevention of electricity theft and effective recovery of electricity dues. She directed strong and effective prosecution in power theft cases. Earlier, the federal secretary power gave a presentation online on current status of electricity theft in all districts of Punjab including Lahore.
Maryam congratulated successful candidates in Senate elections. She expressed best wishes for all the newly-elected senators including Muhammad Aurangzeb, Musaddiq Malik, Khalil Tahir Sindhu, Anusha Rehman and Bushra Anjum. “I thank the allied parties for supporting PMLN candidates in Senate polls. It is hoped that the senators will work diligently for the development of Pakistan and promotion of democracy.”
Maryam Nawaz, while taking notice of an incident of kidnapping and gang rape of a university student in Bahawalnagar, said “violence against women is my red line.” She said such beasts did not deserve any concession. She directed identifying the culprits as soon as possible and giving severe punishment to all those involved. She also sought an urgent report from the IGP in this regard.
