ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has summoned complete record of 118.4 kanals of Islamabad reserve forest land in Sangjani from Capital Development Authority (CDA) which was given to the Park Line Estate company of the family of former president Asif Ali Zardari during the PPP tenure.
The NAB has also started recording statements of officers of Environment Department in this regard. The statements of three officers, including DG Environment Sheikh Suleman, have been recorded so far. According to the sources, after demarcation the revenue staff of Islamabad administration handed over aforementioned land to Park Line Estate after taking it from the CDA in 2012.
The Government of the Punjab had objected to it because this land belonged to the Punjab and was in the possession of CDA on lease and how the CDA could hand over the possession of this land to a private company without its permission.
The CDA filed an appeal with the District Collector Revenue Islamabad in 2014 in which it was stated that the land of reserve forest could not be given to anybody. District Collector announced verdict in CDA’s favour.
Now the CDA had written letter to District Collector in which it was stated that police, Rangers and CDA should launch joint operation in order to take back its possession. The NAB is investigating into this matter that how such billions of rupees government land was given to a private company.
