SKARDU: Chief Court Gilgit Baltistan’s Chief Justice Ali Baig ordered the police to produce 13-year-old missing girl before the court by April 02.
The girl was allegedly abducted on January 20, and forcibly married to 17-year-old boy in Manshera, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The court heard the petition filed by GB High Court Bar on behalf of the father of the missing girl. The petitioner made five accused and as many police officials as respondents. The petitioner requested the chief court to direct the police to immediately recover the girl, declare her marriage null and void and determine her age through a medical examination.
A protest was staged at Gilgit Press Club to show solidarity by political and human right activists. The protesters demanded the early recovery of the girl.
Meanwhile, Gilgit-Baltistan Rescue 1122 recovered a death body of 18-year-old missing girl from a riverside near Danyore. Later on, the Rescue 1122 shifted the body to the provincial headquarters hospital for a post-mortem. Her father had lodged the report of her missing on March 5 at Danyor Police Station. The deceased hailed from Yasin, Ghizer District.
Talking to ‘The News’, a close relative of the deceased girl demanded the formation of a JIT to investigate the cause behind her death. According to police source, three different cases of missing of girls were registered during last one month.
