FIA official decorated with Sitara-e-Imtiaz
PESHAWAR: An official of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Waqar Chauhan has been awarded Sitara- e-Imtiaz for his services.
A communication aid he introduced the concept of parallel financial investigations in Cyber Crimes of the FIA, leading to money laundering investigations in line with recommendations of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF).
Under his command, the FIA North Region registered 70 percent of the total cases registered by the entire FIA between January and August 2022.
He took action under the campaign against money laundering and Hawala under FATF guidelines.
The official, who is now the Director-General of the National Accountability Bureau, KP, contributed to Pakistan’s successful removal from the FATF grey list in October 2022.
The FIA recovered more than Rs25 billion worth of property during the campaign for recovery of Evacuee Trust Board Property.
