PTI to hold big power show in KP for Imran’s release: Gohar
Gohar explained there had been some changes due to ongoing litigation regarding some Senate candidates
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has said that a public meeting, the biggest-ever, will be held in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for the release of party founder Imran Khan.
Talking to media persons outside Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail on Tuesday, he noted that the founder of PTI has said that he will live and die in the country, whereas his message to all is to stand firm. The PTI will organize rallies and “the theme of the proposed public meeting is to release prisoner No 804,” he said.
About his meeting with Imran Khan, Gohar said that there was also a discussion on the Senate election and Congressional statement of the US Assistant Secretary of State Donald Lu. “We have demanded that former ambassador Asad Majeed should come forward and give his statement before the media,” the PTI chairman said.
He pointed out that Donald Lu’s statement gave an impression as if no meeting took place between him and Pakistan’s ambassador, whereas the contents of the same that Asad Majeed sent to Pakistan show there was an interference in internal affairs based on which it was decided to demarche and protest against the US.
Gohar explained there had been some changes due to ongoing litigation regarding some Senate candidates and noted that though Zulfi Bokhari was a PTI candidate from Punjab “if anything happened otherwise, then Allama Raja Nasir Abbas will be our candidate from Punjab, while the parliamentary leader in Punjab Assembly will be Mian Aslam Iqbal.
“All other candidates in Punjab are requested to withdraw their candidatures tomorrow. Likewise, there is an addition of two names in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa i.e. Dr. Shafqat Ayaz and Faizur Rehman but in view of litigation, the rest of the candidates are urged to withdraw tomorrow. Azam Swati is our candidate for the technocrat seat but if anything happens to him, then Noorul Haq Qadri will be our candidate,” he said.
He said that Bushra Bibi’s name is neither in the Toshakhana case nor in the Election Commission’s judgment but she has been involved in the cases only to pressurise Imran. Gohar claimed that Bushra Bibi was kept in solitary confinement and claimed that her health had worsened due to the food being given to her. He declared that Bushra’s health was of serious concern for the party.
The PTI leader pointed out that PMLN’s Rana Sanaullah is boldly saying that the PTI founder should not remain the party chairman. Sanaullah, Gohar said, has been rejected by the people and has been accused by his ‘own’ people of having killed 20 people.
Quoting Sanaullah further, Gohar said the PMLN leader has been threatening Imran. Against this backdrop, “we have filed petitions in Karachi, Peshawar and Islamabad against the PML-N leader, as Khan’s security is of paramount concern to us.”
Gohar also asked Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa to take up their cases and decide them as soon as possible and said they had no hope from Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi.
