LANDIKOTAL: At least six Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) officials were injured in a scuffle with Frontier Corps (FC) personnel at the Torkham on Sunday, sources said.
The video of the scuffle and baton charge was widely shared on social media in which FC personnel were seen thrashing the FIA employees with sticks.
Though there was no official statement, a row over the power to body search the passengers and check goods was stated to be the reason for the incident.
The sources said FIA and FC officials exchanged harsh words inside the Immigration offices in Torkham that led to an exchange of fists.
According to eyewitnesses, at least six FIA employees sustained injuries and were taken to District Headquarters Hospital in Landikotal. Three of the wounded officials were Arif, Amjad and Zulfiqar.
The doctors said the injured FIA officials had received treatment and were in stable condition.
The working at the Immigration offices and other activities were suspended for some time. The situation was normalized later and passenger movement resumed along with transportation of goods. Relevant officials of FIA and FC did not respond to questions sent by this correspondent.
