SUKKUR: Seven people were killed and five others injured during a clash over a land dispute in district Nawabshah on Sunday.
According to the police, the clash took place between two groups of Dahri community in village Wahid Bakhsh Dahri near Qazi Ahmed, in which seven people were killed and five others were injured.
Police said the bodies were transported to the Rural Health Centre, Shahpur Jahanian, while the injured were shifted to PMU Hospital, Nawabshah. The deceased were identified as Abdul Nabi Dahri, Ghulam Qadir Dahri, Dilsher Dahri, Hassan Dahri, Haider Dahri, Sethiar Dahri and Saindad Dahri, while the injured included Saeed Khan, Ghulam Qadir, Nabi Bux, Ghulam Shabbir and one unidentified.
The police said they had taken into custody some suspects involved in the clash and an investigation into the incident was underway.
Nawabshah SSP Tanveer Hussain Tunio reached the Rural Health Centre, Shahpur Jahanian, and sought details of the incident. Talking to the media, he said the grim incident took place over the possession of agricultural land.
He further said police had been sent to the site of the incident to avoid further clashes, adding a case will be registered against those involved in the incident and they will be brought to justice.
Meanwhile, PPP Chairman Bilawal-Bhutto Zardari also took notice of the incident. He said that no one will be allowed to take the law into their hands and vowed to bring those involved in the gruesome incident behind the bar. He also directed the authorities concerned to ensure peace and order in the area.
