Mechanism being devised to earn revenue from sports facilities
LAHORE : A high profile meeting of Punjab Sports Department presided over by Director General Youth Affairs Punjab Pervez Iqbal discussed self-sustainable model of sports facilities, youth talent hunt programme and maintenance of sports facilities at National Hockey Stadium.
Addressing the meeting, DG Youth Affairs Punjab said that Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz gave special significance to Sports Department of the province and to live up to the expectations set by CM Punjab, all the sports officers of the province need to instill more responsible approach in their day-to-day official affairs and performances.
He said that said that as per vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, Sports Board Punjab will make all possible measures to earn maximum revenue from all provincial sports facilities. He directed all divisional and district sports officers of the province to provide complete information and proposals on a prescribed form about the revenue earning capacity and prospects of their respective sports facilities. “We are fully focusing on making our sports facilities profitable under the directions of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz,” he added.
Pervez Iqbal directed all divisional and district sports officers of the province to take extra care of sports facilities in their respective areas. “Top standard sports facilities will also be established in all provincial constituencies and a specific space will be allocated for females in all these sports facilities”.
DG Youth Affairs and Sports Punjab further said that Sports Board Punjab is focusing to make U-16 Youth Talent Programme more transparent and beneficial for the talented youth of the province. “We want to make selection of players for U-16 Youth Talent Programme purely on merit and then groom these youngsters in a professional manner so that they can serve national teams appropriately in future”.
Director Sports Yasmeen Akhtar, Director Youth Affairs Rana Nadeem Anjum, Director Admin M Kaleem, Project Director PMU Qaiser Raza, Deputy Directors Ataur Rahman, Zahoor Ahmed, Tariq Khanzada, all divisional and district sports officers of the province participated in the meeting.
