Weak institutions

This refers to the letter ‘Reconsider your decision’ (March 22) by Abbas R Siddiqi. I respectfully disagree with the views of the writer. NAB has not been performing a realistic role ever since its inception, as it is seemingly being used by governments in power for the political victimization of their opponents. The past has shown that all the accused in NAB custody were ultimately freed after a certain period.
Regarding the caretaker setup, I believe that the purpose of such a government is to hold free and fair elections, which have never been conducted without any bias. The setup keeps failing in this regard.
