BARA: A former member of provincial assembly (MPA) Muhammad Shafiq Afridi has alleged that the newly elected legislator from Khyber district, Abdul Ghani Afridi, has struck a monetary deal with a candidate for the upcoming Senate elections.
Addressing a press conference at his residence, he alleged that MPA Abdul Ghani Afridi had received an advance payment as part of a deal orchestrated with a prominent figure in Hayatabad township of Peshawar.
Sahara Welfare Foundation chairman Sohail Afridi, Karwan-e-Haq Foundation president Nazar Jan, Javed Khan, Syed Wali and local elders were present on the occasion.
The former MPA said the alleged deal came to light just three days ago. He said Abdul Ghani had taken an oath on the Holy Quran in front of the people
during his election campaign and pledged not to betray the voters or the party.
Also, he said, Abdul Ghani had repeated the oath on the assembly floor alongside Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur after his election.
Shafiq Afridi accused Abdul Ghani of violating his oaths by allegedly violating the party’s manifesto. He urged party leaders, including incumbent party chairman Ali Gohar, general secretary Umar Ayub, and provincial president Ali Amin Gandapur to take disciplinary action
against Abdul Ghani and terminate his party membership.
Several attempts were made to get the version of the MPA Abdul Ghani Afridi but his cell-phone was found switched off.
However, the MPA in a video message that he shared on his social media account, rejected the allegations leveled against him by Shafiq Afridi as baseless. He vowed to move the court of law against the former lawmaker.
