GCU forms body to probe ‘harassment’
LAHORE: Government College University (GCU) has initiated an investigation, forming a committee to probe the allegations of sexual harassment within the institution.
A video capturing the moment a female student unleashed her fury at a faculty member within the premises of the Government College University (GCU) English Department went viral on social media following which the university formed a committee to investigate the matter.
Sources said the incident took place on Tuesday while the video was circulated on social media later on. The video, which quickly went viral, shows the student physically confronting the faculty member while verbally expressing her anger. Allegations of harassment against the faculty member have surfaced, suggesting that the student's actions were in response to mistreatment.
In response to the video, GCU has initiated an investigation, forming a committee to probe the allegations of sexual harassment within the institution. A GCU official said the committee, headed by Prof Dr Faiza Sharif, will investigate the matter and the university will take action accordingly.
